Tip

Taxi Uber, Bolt & FreeNow Bolt is cheaper and dominant in Portugal; FreeNow connects you to licensed taxis if Bolt is showing surge. Uber works but runs more expensive. Both apps show driver name, plate, and route. Never take a street taxi at night around São Bento or Aliados - the metered rate is fine but knowing your driver in advance is worth the extra euro.

Most Porto rides €4–10

Metro & Andante card

Buy an Andante card from any metro station vending machine (€0.60 for the card, then top it up). The metro runs to the airport, Matosinhos beach, and Campanhã train station. A single ride is €1.50, last metro around 1am. The blue line (Linha A) is the one you'll use most.

Tram 1 & Bus 500 Tram 1 from Infante along the Douro to Foz is the scenic ride locals take too — €4 single, slow, beautiful. Bus 500 from Praça da Liberdade does the same route plus continues to Matosinhos, faster and €2.50.
