Tip

Use Multibanco ATMs (the green-and-white network) — no extra fees beyond what your home bank charges. Avoid Euronet machines (the bright blue ones at tourist sites); they charge unnecessary conversion fees. Most cafés, restaurants, and shops take contactless card. Carry €20–40 in cash for tascas in Bonfim and Mercado do Bolhão vendors.
