Pérgola da Foz

The 1930s arched colonnade that runs along the Foz oceanfront where the Douro meets the Atlantic. Free, photogenic, and one of the better places in the city to watch the sun drop behind the ocean. Take Tram 1 from Infante along the river (€4, 25 minutes, scenic) or bus 500 (faster, €2.50). The walk along the Avenida do Brasil is full of locals running, swimming, and ending the day with a wine. Bring a beer from the kiosk near Praia dos Ingleses and walk the Pérgola at golden hour.
