Tip
Voltage: 220V, 50Hz.
Plug types: Type I (three angled flat pins, like Australia) and Type C (two round pins, European). Most sockets accept both.
Adapters: Bring a universal adapter or buy locally for 3000 ARS at any ferretería (hardware store). US devices need just adapter, not converter — most electronics handle 100-240V. Check your device label.
Power stability: Rock solid in Palermo, Recoleta, Belgrano. Occasional summer blackouts (December-February) during heat waves, usually under 2 hours. Poorer barrios get more cuts.
Surge protection: Thunderstorms can cause surges. Decent power strips (zapatillas) with surge protection cost 8000 ARS at any electronics store.
Backup power: Most apartment buildings have generators for elevators only. Coworking spaces have full backup. If working on critical stuff, invest in a small UPS (15,000 ARS) from MercadoLibre.
