You now automatically get the MEP dollar rate on most purchases. This rate is very close to the Blue dollar rate (usually only 3–8% worse). Many travelers find it convenient and safe. However, some restaurants and shops still give a 10–20% discount if you pay in cash.
ATM fees are very high: many travellers report the total extra cost (fees + slightly worse rate) eats up 8–15% of the withdrawn amount.
