About
The 1906 building on Rua Miguel Bombarda — middle of the gallery street, around the corner from the natural wine bars and Crystal Palace gardens. Seven dorms and two private rooms, original blue azulejos kept, custom bunks with USB ports and individual reading lights, digital-locker storage. The six-bed female dorm is the one to book — spacious, with double-WC bathroom inside the dorm itself (no hallway shower walk). Free breakfast with hot scrambled eggs, communal Portuguese dinners at €10 (the "nightly Portuguese dinner" is the best way the hostel sells itself), Port tasting in the bar, free daily walking tour. From €19/dorm, €47 for the standard private. The art exhibits rotate bi-monthly — the hostel is also a working gallery.
What to book: The six-bed female dorm with en-suite bathroom — better than what most boutique hotels offer at twice the price. Add the nightly Portuguese dinner if you're solo and want to meet other guests over food rather than at a bar. Private rooms available, too.
What to order
The nightly Portuguese dinner (€10) — it's the best way to meet other guests. Free breakfast with hot scrambled eggs is solid too.
