Areas to avoid

The nomad neighborhoods (Cedofeita, Bonfim, Foz, Baixa, Boavista) are all comfortable at any hour. Two areas to skip for accommodation regardless of the deal: Bairro do Aleixo and Bairro da Pasteleira have ongoing drug issues and are off the standard nomad map anyway. Late at night, the streets immediately around Campanhã train station feel industrial and isolated — not unsafe, just empty. If you arrive on a late train, take a Bolt straight to your door rather than walking out.
