Best Salons in Chiang Mai: Nails, Hair, Lashes & Spas (2026 Prices)
Last updated: October 2026
There're certain things that every girl just won't be ready sacrifice when traveling full time - it's getting her nails done or having a monthly brows & lashes refresh. The truth is, not every hot destination for nomads is really well equipped with great, top-tier nail salons - as much as it's equipped with co-working spaces and hostels, right?
I can't count how many times I found myself getting off the plane, thinking that I didn't have a chance to get my nails done in months - wondering if the next destination would be a good spot for that. It was such a great discovery for me that Chiang Mai wasn't one of those places. If anything, I would put Chiang Mai next to places like Bali or Cape Town - where the destination itself could be easily suitable for a glow-up trip.
But, as well-travelled girlies know, you gotta know where exactly to go - so as someone who spent months as a nomad in Chiang Mai, here's a very detailed guide on all glow-up places you need to know - all from nails, brows and lashes to hairstyle and balayage.
If you're also looking for wellness listings in the Chiang Mai city guide, the Glow Up tab has community-reviewed nail salons, lash studios and hair salons with maps and ratings.

Best Nail Salons in Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai has a real density of good nail salons — particularly in and around the Old City, where competition keeps quality high and prices honest. All the salons below are English-speaking, clean, and use name-brand gel systems.

One of the best-reviewed nail salons in the Old City, with over 1,700 Google reviews and a 4.9 rating. Specialises in BIAB (builder in a bottle) and gel — the kind of set that actually lasts through travel. WhatsApp bookings recommended.

Two conveniently located branches — one on Singharat Road near Phra Sing gate, one on Ratchadamnoen Road near Tha Phae. Does nails, waxing and hair, which makes it useful if you want to knock a few things out in one visit.

A solid, well-priced gel nail studio in the Phra Sing area of the Old City. Good for a straightforward gel mani-pedi without fuss — clean, consistent, and easy to walk in.

Nail art specialist near the Night Bazaar in Chang Khlan. The go-to if you want something more intricate — bring a reference photo and they will usually work with it. Facebook for bookings.
Best Lash & Brow Studios in Chiang Mai
Lash extensions in Chiang Mai are genuinely worth getting — the technicians are skilled, the products are good, and you'll pay a third of what you would in Europe or North America. The Old City has the highest concentration of options. Book at least a day ahead for lash sets; walk-ins are hit-or-miss.
Best Hair Salons & Colour Specialists in Chiang Mai
Pinkies Hair Bar
This is the most well-known spot among expats and digital nomads for any modern styling, blowouts, coloring/balayage - where you could expect a consultation in English. I got my hair done here with my highlights refresh and did a couple blow outs during my stay, end was extremely happy with the result.

Tap water in Chiang Mai
After a few weeks in Chiang Mai I've noticed that my hair gained that slightly warmer shade, which, on my blond hair it wasn't terribly noticeable - but after conversation with master at Pinkies I learned a few facts of what could have been the case. Apparently, Chiang Mai's tap water has a higher hardness factor. After a quick research I figured out that local tap water measures approximately 122 mg/L and carries heavy concentrations of dissolved minerals like calcium, magnesium, and trace iron oxide.
My master told me, that some of her clients who have slightly colder or ashy blond had a very visible color change after a few washes in Chiang Mai. What happens is that high mineral build-up interacts with sunlight and heat, causing blonde or cool-toned hair to rapidly oxidize into an unwanted warm, brassy orange or yellow tone. And during November-April.
A few things you can do about it:
- Shower Filter Attachments
Buying a cheap local shower filter (you can easily get one on Shopee or Lazada Thailand for 200–500 THB) filters out physical sediments and heavy minerals. - Chelating / Detox Shampoos
Recommended to use bi-weekly clarifying or chelating shampoo (e.g., Malibu C Un-Do-Goo or K18 Peptide Detox) to strip mineral build-up before it permanently stains bleached hair. - Rinsing with Bottled/Filtered Water
Finalizing a wash routine with bottled/distilled water helps close hair cuticles smoothly.
How to explain yourself: how you want your hair done?
The most dangerous thing when it comes to getting your hair colored is communicating the tone you want to achieve. Words like "ash," "cool," "warm," or "golden" carry different visual meanings depending on regional hair trends, so rely on this short note to explain it in Thai - if you'll ever have to:
| English Term | Local Thai Phonics | Meaning / Direction |
|---|---|---|
| Cool / Ash Blonde | Blond Tone Theaw / Ash | Neutralizes orange/yellow; silver/violet undertone. |
| No Yellow / Brass | Mai Aow See Lhuang | Explicitly asking to eliminate warm, brassy tones. |
| Warm / Honey | Tone Un / Thong | Warm golden, beige, or warm caramel undertones. |
| Bleach with Bond Builder | Gat See Haeng / Olaplex | Requesting protective bond repair during the lightening stage. |
| Toner Only | Thoner / Erase Tone | Refreshing color tone without lifting the natural base level. |
Thai Massage & Day Spas in Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai is genuinely one of the best places in the world for traditional Thai massage — the training here is serious (the city has schools dedicated to it), and the quality at mid-range spas is often better than at much pricier places elsewhere.
For a street-level traditional Thai massage, you'll find reputable parlours throughout the Old City and Nimman — look for ones that post a price board outside (a sign of a legitimate establishment) and have clean interiors. Prices for a 1-hour traditional massage run 300–500 THB; 2 hours with an herbal compress is typically 800–1,200 THB.
Opened September 2025 — a purpose-built recovery sanctuary with a temperature-controlled ice bath, herbal steam room, indoor pool, and a lounge area with power outlets and WiFi for pre or post-session downtime. The only recovery space concept in Nimman with all three services under one roof — cold immersion to reduce inflammation, steam for detox, and light swimming to loosen muscles. The all-day pass means you can come in after a morning of work, run the full circuit, and come back in the evening — it's re-entry all day. Yoga sessions run Fridays and Saturdays at 9:30am (฿770 including day pass access); sound bath sessions are free for all pass holders. What to book: The OUR Day-Pass (all-day re-entry to ice bath, steam, and pool). Add the Friday or Saturday yoga class for ฿770 total.
One of Chiang Mai's most polished spa brands with private treatment rooms and consistently excellent therapists. They do traditional Thai massage, herbal compress, and facials equally well. The kind of place where you walk in frazzled from a coworking session and walk out genuinely reset.

A yoga studio that actually does something different — they tie their practice to northern Thailand's natural calendar with seasonal botanical programs, flower offerings, and herbal elements. It's the kind of place where your practice feels rooted in the place you're in, not just a generic workout.
Yoga program at the Anantara resort with a river-facing practice space and solid teachers. The sunrise sessions on the riverside terrace are the real draw — there's something about practicing overlooking the Ping River that you can't replicate in a studio. Day passes are available if you're not staying at the resort.

Booking, Payment & Tipping
How to book
Just like anywhere around Chiang Mai, most communication and bookings happen through LINE app - so really encourage you to get it, as it's hard to get anything done without it in Chiang Mai. Some beauty places, spas, and yoga studios have active Instagram pages or Facebook, too. Check which one you use for their bookings. Many massage places allow walk-ins, as well as nail studios - especially if you arrive in a less-busy, unpopular time - but the general recommendation is to try and get a booking; most likely you'd be able to get one the same day.
Payment
Many nail salons widely accept cards, but sometimes you'd be running into a situation that they're having a problem with terminal and would appreciate if you could pay via cash or Thai QR. I never got a minute to figure out how Thai QR actually works, but got quickly discouraged that I have to have Thai residency or a passport to set it up. I was paying with my card almost for any services and all around Chiang Mai - sometimes, I was informed about a surcharge of 3% - which I was okay to accept - given that ATM fees were generally higher than that.
Tipping
Tipping is optional, but is welcomed and accepted warmly - especially in beauty (hair stylists) and massage therapists in Northern Thailand, - in any size from 50 to 250 Baht.
Chiang Mai is one of the places where you don't have to really choose between adventures and scenery, and basic beauty treatments that you follow religiously. There're so many various glow-up places - one thing I'd say for sure - just like anywhere else, I wouldn't recommend visiting any place without relying on someone's review or feedback in their social media/Google Maps. I hope you'll get a chance to try out some of these places and have a lovely time during your nomad stay in Chiang Mai!
