Avoid:Townships (Khayelitsha, Mitchell’s Plain, Gugulethu, Delft) without a guided tour. Cape Flats neighborhoods. CBD/Long Street at night. Isolated beaches or trails after dark. Secondary roads near the airport.
Walking at Night: Not recommended alone, even in tourist areas. Streets can empty quickly, and loadshedding (power cuts) makes it darker. Use Uber for any distance after sunset — it's cheap and trackable. Many women feel comfortable in well-lit, busy spots like the Waterfront until later, but err on the side of caution.
