Cape Town has a Mediterranean climate with seasons flipped from the Northern Hemisphere. Summer (Dec–Feb) is hot, dry, and windy with temps around 78–80°F. Winter (Jun–Aug) brings rain, cooler temps around 63°F, and dramatic storms.
The southeast "Cape Doctor" wind blows hard in summer — good for air quality, less good for beach days. March is often the best month: warm, calm, less crowded. September–November is spring with wildflowers and whale watching.
